Materials/Tools Necessary to Make Necktie

scissors scissors
when i made my first alpha release, i used dull scissors to cut cotton. And not only was it not pretty, it was painful. Get a sharp pair of scissors.
silk pins silk pins
make sure the pins do not tear the threads of silk when you use them to hold the silk in place
needle silk needle
a thin and sharp enough needle so that, like the silk pins, they do not break any threads. Needles are cheap so it was recommended that a new needle be used each time.
thread cotton thread
get thread that matches the color of the silk. Cotton thread is used instead of silk thread so that if the tie is pulled, the thread will break instead of ripping the fabric. Silk is stronger than cotton.
iron iron
some people said that their ties were hand pressed. Didn't work for me.
silk silk
There are many types of silk so 100% silk doesn't necessarily mean jack squat. Check out the resources page for more information on types of silk.
interlining interlining
For the six fold tie, you might need to use an interlining specifically designed for neckties to give it more weight. It will usually be made of wool and drapes well.
seven fold tie pattern necktie pattern
if your skilled enough to make a tie without a pattern, congrats. Otherwise you'll either need to make your own or buy one.
